What's Up?

I am currently busy re-organizing my wardrobe. Managed to sell-off a few things at flea markets and bazaars to make room for new things that will definitely fill up the space! (not that quantity matters, go figure)

Things will never be the same again and part of me is dying to try those new trendy sharp shoulder tops with skinny pants, bandage dresses, sky-high heels and platforms.. *sigh*

Guess I'd have to stick to skirts, tunics, leggings (which is sooo 2004), flats (ok, maybe kitten heels or two-inchers).. boy, I feel frumpy!

Let's see if I manage to still use some creativity on this!

So Yesterday

Yeah yeah.. I know my wedding is sooo over but as I was browsing through this space, I noticed I have not put a single photo of my wedding.. what a crime!

Just happen that I saw Rizman Ruzaini on tv today and apparently their collection is now based on layers and tiers.. so it kind of remind me to my wedding dress..

Said this many times and I'll say it again.. I have always had this long-term relationship with tiered tops, skirts, dresses.. honestly, since I was 6-7 years old.. when I used to annoy my mother every single day, calling her at work just to make her get me a tiered dress!

I know my body very well to identify the weaknesses and strengths.. I know I do not have strong shoulders and chest and that I have full cheeks but luckily I am quite blessed with height (for a Malaysian, I am quite ok) so I thought I should give more focus on the skirt to draw the attention away from my top..

I was browsing through a Martha Stewart wedding magazine and saw this beautiful, amazing Vera Wang gown that looked almost exactly as my dress (which was solely inspired by that gown), except that it was a strapless gown, layered all the way.. and I knew instantly that that's how my wedding dress should look like!

I know it was tough to finally capture the sewing technique but Nurita managed to figure it out. I was really nervous at the beginning, thinking my hips would probably look bigger than Beyonce's but it turned out fine! The tailoring was perfect, the cutting fits me well.. all I can say is.. it's different, I have not seen anything like it, at least locally.. it's me.. and it could never get any better than this.. I love it

That is so inappropriate..

I just need to vent..

what's with the trend or habit now with girls using the word "dear" and "ya or yeah".. I cringe everytime someone write to me (bloggers esp).. "hi dear" or "thanks dear".. or.. "wait for me, ya?" or "thanks ya!"

urgh.. like trying to be nice? makcik-like? or god-forbid, cool/trendy?

stop it! I'm not your "dear" and "ya" is not even a proper word!!

Today's Quickie

The day has arrived.. I am already having butterflies in my stomach! Everything's prepared, I'm leaving for the venue in 2 hours.. After months of preparation, series of unfortunate events, I am thankful and happy to announce that most members of the Dream Team have exceeded my expectations!

Special thanks to:
1. Kristin Thong of C. Club Pavilion for the excellent service and patience - yes, I know I am not that easy to work with.. hehe.. especially when it comes to finding the perfect ring! I'm glad we've managed to develop our business-rship to friendship now.. :)

2. Erni of Mixora bridal boutique (USJ 21). She came all the way to KL to help me choose the fabric for my dress.. and offered her special designer's discounts.. No alternation necessary as it fits like a glove the first time I put it on.. It came out beautiful, more than I thought it would be!

3. Mya from Laceandbeads.com. I love the hantarans.. REALLY love them all.. my heart literally stopped when I saw them all.. perfect choice of flowers (hydrangeas!), excellent coordination with her his & hers items.. tasteful cupcakes designs.. reasonable pricing.. Mya, thank you.. I wish you all the best with the baby.. :)

4. My dear friend Aida of willywonka.. it's even more special when the favours are specially hand-made by your childhood friend.. Thank you for being sooo accommodating.. Thank you, love you babe!!

5. Colleagues, childhood friends & college sisters.. THANK YOU for the hen-do's.. I had fun, I had fantastic time, I love you all.. Yes, I am getting married but our friendship lasts forever so nothing will ever change that.. I HEART YOU!

6. F, I know weddings are NOT a guy thing.. I know I may have been difficult at times but you know, I have always been a sucker for weddings.. and this is mine.. so.. I'm sorry if I've upset you in any ways for the past few months. You have been a charming fiance, I know you have put a lot of effort in driving me around, accompanying me in the most 'boring' places on Earth.. so Thank you, love you to bits!

Ok people, I'm gonna go get my shower now. Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes.. Thank you :)

News

Somehow I feel that no matter how good my foot-care regime is, I would still get cracked heels. Is it because I wear high heels too frequently? If you have this same problem, guess what? I've found a place that can help you smoothen out those ugly skin.

Trust me, I have tried getting pedicures from so many places but none could really remove all of them (although Kool Kutz (Bangsar Village II) does excellent job with buffing your toe nails that they continue to shine until they grow out)

So back to cracked heels, you can really get them removed at Green Paradise at First Floor, Ampang Point Shopping Mall. Quick (abt 30 mins), painless and effective.

One catch though.. the 'beautician' (for lack of vocab at 7am in the morning) were very annoying. They thought they were being friendly but can't they tell that me reading magazines means I am not interested to talk? and they will make you sign up for packages and tried selling their other services and products.. come on, do they really have to show that level of desperation? OK, while I am already at it, somehow I feel like most salons in Malaysia apply the same annoying marketing strategy. They might sell - only because the customers are too annoyed and probably willing to spend some money just to make them keep their mouth shut! As a result, that will be a permanent goodbye.

So, if you happen to run a beauty salon and reading my blog, please please please train your staff to be nice, smile (is good), be attentive but please don't be over-friendly - coz you will only repel people like me.. and please don't be too desperate, trying too hard to sell your products.. and if u happen to run hair salon, please don't spoil your customers mood by telling them their is dying, therefore desperate (my word of the day) for the most expensive treatment or else, deal with a bald head for the rest of your lives! Look, we all have mirrors, we can tell if our hair is frizzi-er than a lion's and if we are interested, we'll ask for it ok?

Hmm.. I'm nagging now. Better Stop. Toodles!

Wanna be a princess?

Well.. I'm getting married in less than a month.. so lately I have been trying to figure out what kind of hair-do should I have - veil..? no veil..? tiara..? Few weeks back I thought I was quite certain that a messy side bun with cymbium and a pair of diamond studs would be perfect.. until my mum planted this thoughts in my head that.. I should wear a veil and tiara since this is basically the only time I could pull this off.. right?

So I have been flipping through Hello magazines from my 'archive'.. and my current obsession is the European princesses.. see, those long veil ala princess Diana.. heheh.. As you may have already known by now, I am a bit extreme.. simple means simple all the way and while I am already into this whole princess fairy-tale mood, might as well go all the way, right?? Shouldn't settle for anything in between, no?

Hmm okay, I got side-tracked.. what I actually wanted to share this time is actually lingerie.. soo in the mood of collecting them, for obvious reasons :p I love Princesse Tam Tam.. (since La Perla and Agent Provocateur are obviously out of the equation!).. I just love the pretty lace with matching trimmings and ribbons.. another reason that I love PTT is perhaps their range where unlike the over-rated Victoria Secret that has models that make women who are not very full at the top (*ehem) quite intimidated, PTT's range is more tasteful, modern and very European.

You can find PTT in Blush! stores. The price range is between RM239-RM379 per piece. If you live near Subang Jaya, Point B! in Summit USJ carries them for a permanent slash of 40-50%.. Go Indulge ;)

If only I could turn back time..

1. I would have studied at a uni with a proper campus. Where I studied, it was more of a "cowboy town" where we lived in gated flats with classes located like 2km away.. Nothing exciting

2. I would probably have accepted the offer and scholarship to continue my studies at Uni College London and would still be there until now with an awesome job and a wardrobe full of oh-so-lovely clothes

3. I would have studied Biology instead of Accounting in High School so I could be a doctor and be filthy rich and arrogant.. heheh

4. .. Or studied Geography instead of Chemistry so I could be a rich Oil & Gas Geologist..

IT job sucks. This whole globalization thing is driving me nuts.. Conference calls back to back, 3-4 times a week.. I'm exhausted!

Anyway, my awesome nephew drew this - of me in my wedding dress (with matching boots, blusher and sequins.. heheh) .. say awww people!

Grooming

I soooo need to:
1. Go for hair treatment
2. Get a pedicure
3. Reshape my eyebrow

Checkout this couple.. super sexy duo.. guess I need to start planning my honeymoon outfit.. cowboy hat, aviators, some beach cover-ups, pair of Havaianas..

FIVE weeks to go!

Buttons

It's a weird combination but we have come a long long way. Things may have not been as smooth as we hoped for and we have both done every possible thing to screw things up but we are still together, in fact stronger than ever.

Happy Birthday F!

Dancing makes me feel good, really good. Last few weeks were a bit rough, I can't believe I got bugged by this little maggot but lucky some friends came to the rescue and put some sense to my head.

Shut up and Drive

These photos were taken using Leica Clux-1, a birthday gift from my fiance. We were just playing with the camera, somehow for a compact digital camera, the results were pretty good I think.

Some updates on the wedding prep.. this week's theme is registration. Got the forms filled up, going for HIV test on Tuesday and then will proceed with the forms submission on Friday. Hopefully we could still make it on time or my parents are going to kill me for procrastinating.

Six weeks to go!

It's just a figure, go figure

That was a long hiatus wasn't it? Here's some updates to what I've been up to for the past 6 months or so.. damn.. it has really been a while hasn't it?

What have I been up to?

Turned 30 last month. Huge milestone I would say. It may be THE age to be since all the characters in Sex & the City are in their 30s, 13 going on 30 made 30 seem so fabulous.. somehow it made me wonder, what have I accomplished so far? 6 ex-boyfriends (from a bunch of beasts to some fine gentlemen) , 5 totally different jobs - from a club door bitch, to sales promoter in Louis Vuitton, to Systems Engineer and now IT Project Manager.. 2 cars - started with a Proton Satria (with 4 kinda major road-accidents and about 10 speeding and parking tickets) and now a much safer Mazda 3 (i now swear by ABS) and have become a more defensive driver.. bought myself an apartment at my dream neighbourhood.. travelled the world.. to say about 15 countries so far (learned different cultures, roam the streets in europe, missed flights, got invited to the plane cockpit once, freaked out on Idols in Bangkok).. and that left me with not much savings though.. then.. appeared on tv and newspaper for some lame education award I received..

hmm.. that figure 30 has been bugging me.. but now all I can say is, I am very grateful.. not so much to what I have become now but rather all the life experiences that I have gone through.. such a tough tough road.. (all the extremes are probably the reason why I am a bit 'unstable'?) but I am thankful to be alive, to be given another chance to become a better person

So, what's next?

I AM GETTING MARRIED!!! heheh.. yes, to a wonderful man, the man who appreciates and accept this cranky, bitchy, complicated me.. :)

The wedding is going to be in July - which is 6 weeks from now.. I'm ecstatic!

Anyways, here are some photos.. taken from my recent trip to Bangkok

'Trashy' weekend

It took the stylist at Peek-a-boo (yes, again) an hour to get my hair done, and it took me 20 mins to wash the chemicals off. The result? Worth it!

Since I have been on a tight budget, I figured I should just do my own make up. I thought it looked okay.. for an amateur.. and considering I don't have that many make up & the right tools.. I never thought it could be so easy and fun, I learn mostly through videos posted on youtube..

Well, here's what I did:
1. Clean face and put on some toner & moisturizer.
2. I applied some MAC cream concealer on scars, redness, etc..
3. I mixed a drop of MAC Strobe cream and Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer on my palm and used the foundation brush by Body Shop to apply it to my face.
4. As you can normally see, I have serious dark circles around my eyes so YSL Touche Eclat did wonders on it. I also put some Shadow Insurance gel by Too Faced as eye shadow primer
5. I used Shimmer eye-shadow by Elianto in Shining Grey all over the eye lid and Black Sea on the bottom crease. They only costs RM5 each, and they're surprisingly great! The colors are intensed and smooth. The trick here is to use proper brush - I use MAC 217 to apply the eye color and MAC 210 to blend. Definitely worth the investment, they make any cheap eye shadow look professionally done.
6. Then, I applied some liquid eyeliner, really closely to the lash line. I got mine AGES ago by Body Shop. I have never been good at this, you need to practice!
7. Next, I curled my eye lashes. I have been using THE curler by Shu Uemura. I do not know the difference between this particular one or other cheaper ones but I got it years ago.. Then I put on some mascara, I have this habit of rubbing my eyes so I need a heavy duty one - Semi Permanent Last Tint by Jemma Kidd.
8. Since I was going for a punk-rock look, I need to create dramatic eyes so fake lashes are KEY. Again, I got mine at Elianto, they only costs RM12 :) There are LOTS of videos posted on youtube on how to wear them so go check them out. They're pretty easy once you give it a try!
9. My eyebrows are naturally thin and sparse (ugly, I tell you). So to get that natural color, I use the slanted brush (Body Shop has one, cheaper than MAC) and dark brown eye shadow to shape it.
10. Finally my eyes are now done. Next is to create some glow to my face. I love the blusher I am currently using - Orgasm by NARS. Another cult product, unfortunately not available here.
11. Lastly, I put on some lip color. My lips are quite dark so I normally apply cream base lipstick to mask the dark pigments. This particular product is something I CANNOT live without - Stila Cream Lip color in Pixie

So.. what did I wear? Ah.. here's the fun part :)

Trashy.. hahah.. oh well.. I have ALWAYS wanted to be a rock star and I thought I was ready for a music video :p

T-shirt Dress: Topshop

Oh yeah, I played a small part as a 'make-up artist' for our group performance. We (as in them, my team) did a Maori tribal dance. They were awesome! Everyone was synchronized, we had the most organized and identical costume, they or WE? RAWK!!

Punk Chic

I love annual dinners. OK, that shows betapa 'happeninglah' my life.. heheh.. well, like I said I'm reaching 30 this year and I do not take liquid or any form of substance to be enjoying regular parties.. so annual dinners la is the avenue for me to get all dolled/dressed up and be whoever I want to be!

Speaking of annual dinner, ours is coming on Jan 10th. The theme is MUSICAL. THEATRICAL. CULTURAL. blergh.. nak pakai apa? catsuit for CATS? Puteri Gunung Ledang? Screw it. I'm going to be a rock star and represent the PUNK CULTURE. hehe.. dah lamaaaa betul teringin nak jadi rock star. I wish I was born with strong vocals.. boleh la jadi lead singer rock band mcm Shirley Manson ke.. Gwen Steffani ke.. sukanya!!

My inspiration this time would be non other than Mulan Jameela. OK, I have been berangan performing lagu Makhluk Tuhan Paling Seksi.. heheh.. :p suka la lagu tu!! and she's just so HOT!

I found this lace full body suit kat Sg Wang. Tapi too provocative for company sponsored event?

Arghh.. I'm dyinggg to get a pair of gloves like that. Everytime jumpa, either too pricey for one/two-time use or too big for my hands

Those gloves are KILLING me!

I scored a pair of Zebra print dress like this by Martina Pink @ Tangs the other day. Suke.. suke.. :p sama macam Mulan.. yay!

Hm.. excited ni.. I've got my outfit composed and will be doing some major do on my hair. Will post up pics.. Stay tuned!

p/s: Photos taken from her facebook. Yes people, I am a fan! haha..

When I was a little girl

I remember when I was 5-6 yrs old, every single day before pegi kindergarten, I will play my mum's Jane Fonda aerobics tape and followed every step religiously. Masa tu belum pandai menari.. so I considered aerobics tu mcm menari2 la jugak. I have always enjoyed performing when I was little. Suka sangattt perform atas stage. Only my parents are quite conservative so I guess sending me to ballet school was not even an option (yelah, kena pakai seksi2 kan..)

Lepas tu, suka jugak tengok beauty pageant. Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Tourism, segala jenis Miss la.. tak pernah miss.. sanggup stay up til midnight, sometimes sampai fall asleep depan tv..

Then, another obsession was weddings.. I can still remember those times when I called my mum in the office and asked her to buy me tiered dresses (yes, dah 20+ yrs ada obsession for tiered dresses) sbb ada wedding nak pegi.. so kena dress up.. (masa tu baru 7-8 tahun, dah pandai demand).. dah lepas dress up dgn bow segala (ala2 Blair Waldorf.. heheh), terus semangat pegi wedding and MESTI duduk depan pelamin... konon2 mcm front row seat at fashion shows la kan.. pastu mulut ternganga.. concentrate OK!

Masa kat kindergarten, I used to borrow my maid's make up and put them on my classmates! Bayangkan.. menjerit mak budak2 tu.. baru 5-6 yrs old dah pakai lipstick dgn eyeshadow.. "elok je muka comel2 masa aku hantar pegi skolah tadi, ni dah jadi mcm anak sapa pulak!" hmm... *guilty as charged*

Guess I have been ENJOYING my life as a girl. With all the pretty clothes out there.. make up.. EVERYONE can be beautiful. EVERYONE can be WHOEVER they want to be.. I am turning 30 this year.. YES.. THIRTY but despite all the pressure to get married and make babies and all those BS.. (eh, takdela.. tak BS.. nak jugak kawin).. I am THANKFUL that I was born a girl.. nasib baik aku gila fashion.. so takdela frust sgt dah 30 pun tak kawin2 lagi.. heheh.. sbb nanti dah kawin, priorities will change.. :p so time ni la nak puaskan hati.. kan kan kan!

p/s: Yes, I don't normally talk to strangers.. somehow I now feel more attached to this blog to be able to membebel..
